KZCC LEAGUES 2023/2024

LEAGUE PLAY for Club Members

Registration is now Open!

SCROLL DOWN this page for detailed League Descriptions.

With your annual club membership, depending on the Membership Level & league(s) you choose to play in, you'll play multiple weeks: 1 or more times/week on designated day(s) throughout the season.  At KZCC, the "Year" or Curling Season starts in the Fall (e.g., late Sept. or early Oct.) and continues all through the Winter, ending mid-Spring (e.g., late March).

Most leagues are divided into FALL & WINTER sessions (e.g., 7-8 weeks each), with the exception of Sunday's Yager League (for beginners), Monday's Eckstrand League which is a year-long league (both Fall and Winter sessions) and our Wednesday Mixed Doubles League.  All leagues are for adults of all ages, including younger/age 14+ and older/60+ ...as long as you can send a 42 lb. curling stone the length of a playing sheet! ;)  Note: our Juniors program meets Sunday mornings for kids of all ages -- for more info email [email protected].

The following list provides a general summary of each league for Kalamazoo Curling Club members.

  • Beginner Sunday Yager League [4-5 or 8-10 weeks] variable sessions
  • Intermediate Sunday Sandlot League [8-10 wk. session] x2: Fall, Winter

All KCC leagues will be held in the Zoo at Wings Event Center!  All leauges are subject to change based on number of teams per league.  Please look at the descriptions below to determine which leagues will suit you, ask questions of our league managers, and then sign up for CURLING this year!

Most of our leagues are scheduled to run the length of one 'session' ...such as our FALL Session which usually begins in late-September or early-October, and will run until about mid-December.  And then, our WINTER Session usually begins in early January and will run until the end of the season, usually until late March.  Each league has a designated time on the ice and a day or night of the week to play.  Some adjustments to start times can be anticipated from week to week (e.g., depending on ice prep.) and, for holidays and other times of the year, some leagues may also need to anticipate having "bye weeks".

If you want to find out which days/weeks you might have 'off' for certain leagues, you can check our league calendar but please also verify playable vs. bye dates with the managers of the leagues you want to play in (see email links in descriptions below).

Sunday Yager League [arrive 2:30pm ~ 3-5:00pm]

If you haven't curled before or are new to curling, Yager a great league for brand new curlers and those with up to 3 years of experience!  This adult league is for those that are just starting out and other relatively new players.  In Yager League you'll have experienced curlers on hand to work with you and help teach you the game while you play.  Sign-up as a single player or with a friend.  Brand new curlers (i.e., rookies), and other players with no league experience have the option of using a separate sign-up page (here) or registering for full club membership (here).  If you have not curled in a league before, registrants are encouraged (though not required) to attend at least one L2C session (here).  For people with more than 3 years of experience, please email [email protected] to help coach (and play) on a beginner team.  Lastly, keep an eye out for announcements about our pre-season dates to help you get into the swing (and CURL) of it! :) If you have any questions about this league or being a new player at the club, please contact Scott or Mitch.

Sunday Sandlot League [6:00-8:00 PM]   League is Full for Fall 2023**

Welcome to Sunday curling!   Sandlot is OPEN for anyone to join.  The league is comprised (mostly) of intermediate players - i.e., those with 1 to 5 years of experience.  Most team rosters will have a mix of experience levels ...including new (or new-ish) players.  Depending on experience levels of and how many people register, teams may also be put into separate divisions based on experience.  So sign up with a friend or as an individual "free agent", and we’ll find a team for you to play on!  A complete schedule will be posted on the club's calendar.  Questions?  Please reach out to John via email at: [email protected].
** If you want to be put on our Waitlist for this league, please send an email to the aforementioned address.

Monday Eckstrand League [6:30-8:30 PM]  – Full Year Competition!

Our Eckstrand League is our most competitive league, open to all club members and is named after one of our founding members Garnet Eckstrand.  Garnet loved friendly competition on the ice and telling stories off the ice. We play on Monday night ...all year-long / Fall and Winter sessions!  Form your own team and join the Eckstrand League for a fun and competitive night of curling. The league is designed to form your own team, but if you are a single player, we will try to find a team for you.  For additional information send an email to Colby.

Tuesday Combined League [6:30-8:30 PM]  ***League is Full for Fall 2023***

...all experience levels!

The goal of this league is to build teams with a mix of newer and more experienced curlers in order to foster education, competition, and fun. Curlers of all experience levels are welcome, including brand new curlers. Sign ups are on an individual basis. But, you can indicate who you wish to have as team members, and the league manager will make an effort to honor teammate requests, but guarantees cannot be made. If you sign up as an individual and do not have suggestions for teammates, you will be placed on a team to balance team experience level. This league is composed of two seasons: Fall and Winter, but the hope is that players will remain in the league the entire year. This is a very popular league, and spots fill up fast. To reiterate: Team member requests will be honored to the best of the league manager's ability, however, each person must register individually in order to get on a team, spots will not be held unless you are officially registered. If you have questions, please contact Chris.

Wednesday Lunch Bunch League [12:00pm-2:00 PM]  – Daytime League

Our first Daytime League is here! Come enjoy an afternoon of curling. This league is casual and open to all members and skill levels. We will "team" up weekly. For additional information send an email to Arlene.

Wednesday Mixed Doubles League [6:30-8:30 PM] Full Year Competition!  ***League is Full***

We are mixing it up this year by adding our Wednesday night mixed doubles league.  Teams will be made up of one male and one female player with no experience necessary.  Preferably you will put your team of two together before registration and list your partner at that time. However, if you don’t have a partner we will try to find one for you.  Mixed doubles gives you the opportunity to throw more rocks and be very involved in the strategy with your partner.  It is a fast paced and exciting way to play.  Keep in mind we only have room for 10 teams so don’t delay if you want to play!  Questions? - contact Marcus.

6-Enders Social League

Thursdays - [starts 6:30 PM] – for Fun & Socializing

This goal of the 6-Enders league is to bring both newer and experienced curlers together for a night of curling and socializing.  You can sign up as an individual or request your teammates, we will do our best to honor those requests.  We will have both a fall and winter season and hopefully most teams stay for both sessions.  And don’t forget that after the curling is done we can all head to the local watering hole (One Well) to broomstack together. Questions?...contact Jay.

DROP-IN / Open Ice

Fridays - [start time varies]

This is open ice time as a benefit to our members (only), as well as when our members can bring in someone who is interested in curling to show them around.  Contact a current member and come check us out!  Friday nights is otherwise for practice, make-up games, or even pick-up games with enough interest.  This is not an official league (and may not happen every Friday) so there is no additional cost for current club members.  Questions?...contact [email protected].

SUNDAY MORNINGS - tentatively: Juniors @10AM, Littles @11AM

This is a great way to introduce your children to the great sport of curling.  Youth of all ages can join this intro-to-curling league designed for kids to learn, play, and have fun!  Our instructors will work with kids in groups and individually on basics of the game and help them learn how to sweep and deliver a rock, as well as basic etiquette of the game.  In the past, some of our older youth (i.e., juniors) have traveled to play in bonspiels with juniors from other curling clubs.  So whether this is you child's first year curling or have been on the ice before, it's going to be a lot of fun and we'd love to have you!  If you have any questions about this league or our Juniors program in general, please email kids or [email protected].
